Not all who are lost wish to be found...

Alone at sea... She will be tested...

Sea Hawk follows Laura Barrett, a recently widowed wife and mother who chooses to pursue a dream she once shared with her husband. Now, she must learn to live it alone. Aboard the sailboat he began and she completed, she becomes resourceful, independent, and courageous. Grief, memories, desires, and strange encounters all challenge her understanding of herself and the world around her. As her voyage unfolds, she realizes she can grieve for the life she once had while discovering a new way of living.

The sea teaches... It also takes.

The Rhetoric of Illustration:

• Words form the narrative
• Minds interpret the meaning
• Visual rhetoric interrogates both

Words the water whispered back...

"The sea is immense, like the swelling of a heart filled with joy."

Oceanus

"You do not ask a tame seagull why, from time to time, it chooses to disappear toward the open sea."

Bernard Moitessier, "The Long Way"

“The sea does not care about your past, your fears, your regrets. It only asks that you meet it on its own terms. You must know the sea, and know that you know it.”

Joshua Slocum, on navigation and solitude.

The Writer Behind the Words

Michael John Walsh writes vivid, psychologically intimate fiction in which tactile experience carries philosophical significance. He gives practical details and moments of wonder equal care, allowing the mysterious to slip into the familiar. His characters struggle, contradict themselves, and make impossible choices. His prose is visual, alive to the feel of weather, the weight of memory, and lyrical reflection. He writes about loss, longing, and the courage it takes to claim a life of one’s own.
